Handling Collection
The Museum's handling collection is an educational tool that offers visitors the opportunity to experience authentic pieces in an interactive way. The collections consists of over 200 objects made of various materials from China, Japan and Southeast Asia dating from Neolithic times to the present day. The aim of this resource is to enlighten, instruct and stimulate interest and discussion and is particularly popular with art students and artists wanting a closer look, especially at ceramics and jades.

Museums aren't just for Grown Ups!
Museums are renowned for being unfriendly for younger visitors, full of objects they cannot touch and information they cannot understand. The Museum of East Asian Art is keen to shake off this image and strives to involve children from an early age by offering exciting events and activities.

The Museum provides an education service to primary and secondary schools, as well as adult education and universities. We also provide a wide-range of workshops and more hands-on activities, as part of its continuing commitment to education at all levels.

These activities are part of an in-house programme of education which provides our younger visitors with a chance to learn about the art and cultures of East Asia.
