The talk will guide participants to look more closely at the beautiful paintings in the museum’s current exhibition “Reflections”.  These paintings, which blend together Eastern and Western styles, are part of the story of the encounters between the two worlds.  This talk will explain how the Western way of seeing has contributed to the development of Chinese ink paintings in the past century and how it is also evident in Wu Lan-Chiann’s paintings.

Dr Tian S Liang is a postdoctoral research and curatorial fellow at SOAS University of London.
