Volunteers required for Lunar New Year Extravaganza!

The Museum of East Asian Art hosts an annual Lunar New Year Extravaganza! and every year we need volunteers to help make it happen!!  We will celebrate the Lunar/Chinese New Year with lots of Chinese and East Asian arts and crafts activities, Chinese Zodiac face painting, musical performances, martial arts demonstrations and traditional lion dances.

We need volunteers to:

Run Culture stalls!
Do you have a background in East Asian culture?  Would you be able to run a stall explaining to people how Lunar New Year is celebrated in particular East Asian countries, such as Vietnam or Indonesia?  If so this would be a great opportunity to assist the Museum in informing visitors about the variety of New Year celebreations around the world.

Perform!
Do you play any traditional Chinese or East Asian instruments? Are you able to sing any folk tunes or perform traditional Lunar New Year dances? We would love to have you on board!  This is a great way to showcase your talents whilst celebrating the New Year!

Run arts and crafts activities!
From ink painting to face painting, we need “crafty” individuals to help man our activitiy stations, assit children with cutting, pasting and folding, and keep activities well-stocked and orderly

Steward the event!
help people to cross Bennett Street safely between the Museum of East Asian Art and the Assembly Rooms, assist with crowd control, keep people informed of performance times, on-going activities and directions around the facilities.
