Museum Curator Michel Lee will host this fascinating handling session with a chance to get hands-on with some of the jade, bamboo and horn carvings in the museum’s handling collection.  Participants are also invited to bring along their own piecces to find out more about them.

Japanese Embroidery Demonstrations

sarum chrysanthemums in progress Discover the unique beauty of Japanese aesthetics.  Japanese embroidery is stitched on pure silk fabric, either kimono silk for light designs or heavy plain or metallic obi silk for rich designs with superimposed stitching.  Over this weekend the Japanese Embroidery Guild will be exhibiting and demonstrating one of the most beautiful forms of surface decoration for visitors to the Museum of East Asian Art.
